Stephanie Sieberhagen

Relationship Specialist

Who I am

I am a forty something psychologist with almost two decades' worth of experience in helping people just like you to get through hard times. I obtained my Masters Degree in Psychology through the old RAU and my PhD from the UCT - Psychiatry Dept. I am registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as well as the Board of Healthcare Funders. So you can rest assured that you are in good hands. My work experience includes starting and running the Knysna Wellness Centre; heading the Rheenendal Bus Disaster Counselling Programme and working at UCT with the Child Nurse Practice Development Initiative. I have worked extensively with FAMSA (including training their lay counselors) and worked at Diepkloof Medium B Prison; Headway Head Injury Clinic and TARA. I worked at 1 Military Hospital with patients who had amputations and spinal chord injuries.

My PhD is entitled, 'Investigating relationships between women’s moods and their menstrual cycles – a multi-method study'. Come and chat to me about how keeping a cycle calendar can help you, your partnership and your family to live together more harmoniously.

My current area of specialization is relationships. I can work with couples or individuals who are having relationship issues. Familial relationships like tricky mother/ daughter relationships can also be facilitated. My practice is adult focused and I am happy to see anyone from adolescent age upwards.

If you want to be a real human being - a real woman, a real man - you cannot tolerate things which put you to indignation, to outrage. You must stand up. I always say to people, 'Look around; look at what makes you unhappy, what makes you furious, and then engage yourself in some action.'
